Episode 31 – Theo Platt

This week’s guest is Theo Platt, the Chief Operating Officer at Gloucester Cathedral.

In this episode Theo and I talk about what it is like to work in a Cathedral setting, juggling tourism, worship, learning users and communities – which is fascinating to hear about – and an area of heritage that is completely new to me.

We also talk about Theos’ previous roles, starting with the economic development agency, ONE NORTHEAST, which meant moving to the North East, his MA in Heritage Management at Newcastle University and his role at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston, where he worked as a Fundraising and Business Development Assistant.

Theo then relocated to Gloucester to take up the role as Development and Communications manager at the Cathedral – which led to 12 years (and counting) with the organisation.

This podcast was recorded remotely over Zoom in May 2023 and is an edited version of a longer conversation.

Don’t forget to like and subscribe through whatever podcast app or website you use, so you can receive future episodes, and as ever, if you have any questions or queries, you can message me through twitter or Intsagram, using the handle @culturalpeeps.

Thanks to Theo for taking the time to talk with me about his career path so far – I really enjoyed chatting with Theo and hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.
